Neuroscience advisors are available to support all students within the Neuroscience major (BS) and minor programs. Advisors offer 30-minute advising appointments and virtual drop-in advising sessions to current UCLA undergraduate students. For email correspondences, please allow for 1-2 business days for a response, and be sure to include your 9-digit UID as well. Please contact your College Counseling Unit regarding all non-major requirements, or the respective departmental advising office for other major/minor program inquiries.

30-Minute Advising Appointments

Students can schedule 30-minute advising appointments for more in-depth or complex questions/inquiries. Advising appointments are available Monday – Friday, and are offered remotely and in-person (depending on advisor availability throughout the week). Advisors open appointment slots on a frequent basis, so please check the booking site consistently for openings if there are none immediately available. Our advising office is busy especially during peak times of the quarter (e.g., enrollment periods), so if you are unable to schedule an advising appointment, please consider attending a virtual drop-in session or emailing us. Additionally, it is kindly requested to notify us via email as soon as possible if you are running late (a 10-minute grace period is offered) or need to reschedule or cancel an appointment. Cancellations can be done manually via the booking site at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment time.

Please note: Appointment slots to meet with Aftin are released on a daily basis, and students can schedule an appointment up to two weeks in advance. Appointment slots to meet with Louis are released on Fridays, and students can schedule an appointment up to a week in advance.

Virtual Drop-In Advising

Virtual drop-in advising sessions are designated for quick advising questions and program-related inquiries that can be addressed within 5-10 minutes. These sessions operate on a first-come, first-serve basis, so students should expect to be placed in a waiting room upon joining the Zoom meeting and will be admitted in the order that they joined, once the advisor is available to assist them. To ensure meeting with an advisor, please join drop-ins at least 10 minutes prior to the end of the session.

Our department sends out emails pertaining to program information and updates, as well as a weekly newsletter filled with opportunities and resources, to Neuroscience majors and minors via our listserv. Students can request to be added to the mailing list by emailing neurosci@ucla.edu with your UID and preferred email address, and be sure to add neurosci_undergrad@lists.ucla.edu to your safe list.
